Rimmer was a sculptor, portrait and figure painter, teacher, and writer on art. He taught art, especially art anatomy, at Cooper Union in New York and the Museum School in Boston. He was also a doctor, largely self-educated, and he practiced from 1855 to 1863 in Chelsea and East Milton, Mass. American ballet director, writer, and dance historian, 1907-1995. Lincoln Kirstein was born in Rochester, NY, educated at Harvard (B.A. 1929, M.A. 1930).
